Al’s Afternoon Tea: The MAGAs Take Manhattan, NFL Hail Mary Offers Caution for the Election

By Al Perrotta Published on October 28, 2024

Welcome back in for Al’s Afternoon Tea, one of our few remaining chances to stop and sample some of the latest news in these harried final days of the 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump Holds Rally at Fabled Madison Square Garden

The New York Police Department estimated that 19,000 people were seated inside Madison Square Garden last night, with another 75,000 people standing outside. This was in New York City — for a Republican.

Last night, Donald Trump and his all-star line-up of opening acts rocked the fabled Madison Square Garden. His message: Kamala Broke It, I Will Fix It.

As campaign speeches go, it was little different from his others this election, with their organic and often entertaining “weaves.” However, the energy in the place and on the New York streets made for an historic night. And the hysteria from the Left over it proves it was a political home run.

Trump did offer a new policy proposal Sunday night: a tax credit for those who serve as caregivers to family members.

Does Trump Have a Shot at Winning New York?

During the rally, Trump expressed his desire to win New York. Is that far-fetched? Before the rally, a New York Times/Sienna poll showed Kamala Harris is polling 10 points behind what Joe Biden got in New York City in 2020. She’s up 66%-28% on Trump. But if the rally lets Trump take an even bigger bite out of the Big Apple — given his advantage in the rest of the state — things could get veeeery interesting. Plus, racking up votes in the Big Apple will help run up his popular vote total nationally.

That Was One Funny-Looking Nazi Rally

The articles and posts were prewritten about how the rally evoked the Nazi rallies of the 1930s. Check the MSNBC chyron after Trump spoke:

Earlier in the day, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz joined the mockingbird media insinuating that everyone at Madison Square Garden was a Nazi. Some Nazi rally, huh?

Apparently, nobody told these guys they were going to a Nazi rally.

Or this Holocaust survivor:

Radio host Sid Rosenberg flew in from Israel to attend the gathering. He was surprised to discover he was at a Nazi rally.

“I just got back from Israel two weeks ago. They love Trump in Israel, just so you know,” he said. “I had the opportunity to break the Yom Kippur fast with Bibi Netanyahu. … I got back and they go, ‘Sid, you want to speak at this MSG thing?’ I go, ‘Sure. It’s out of character for me to speak at a Nazi rally. I was just in Israel.’ But I took the gig!”

Seriously, it is quite a moral contortion when the people calling Trump and his supporters “Nazis” are the same people who are content with Hamas supporters taking over college campuses and destroying them while calling for the extermination of the Jews.

Walz Promises AOC Will Be Speaker if Dems Win House

While J.D. Vance was torching Jake Tapper on CNN, Tim Walz was playing Madden on Twitch with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The campaign thinks that will attract young men.

While gabbing with AOC, Walz gave the Trump team another ad. He said if Democrats win, they’re going to make her the new Speaker of the House. His exact words: “We’re gonna win this election. We’re gonna make you put a gavel in your hand in the House.”

The socialist duo also vowed to eliminate the Senate filibuster, which would lead to a packed Supreme Court, an end to two-party rule in the country, doctors forced to perform abortions up to the moment of birth, and essentially an end to the country as we have known it for the last two and a half centuries.

Meanwhile, Kamala Harris mimicked Trump again by visiting a black-owned barbershop in Philadelphia. By the end of the week, she’ll be married to a supermodel and hosting a reality show.

Harris Now Mimicking Dr. Martin Luther King

Not 10 days after telling a few Christians, “You’re at the wrong rally,” Kamala Harris was back in a black church on Sunday, this one in Philadelphia. And this time she brought yet another fake accent, borrowing the tone and cadence of a stereotypical black male preacher.

We Pause for This Musical Interlude

Over the weekend, somebody reposted this clip of Vivek Ramaswamy playing piano during a campaign stop in January.

That made us realize that Vivek has performed more on this campaign than Beyonce has for Kamala Harris.

The Commanders’ Hail-Mary Victory: A Warning Not to Get Cocky

Yes, signs are pointing toward a Trump victory in November. Yes, Kamala Harris’s campaign seems to be falling apart at the seams. Yes, the talking heads on MSBC and CNN are dour and bickering. (And whining about a joke told by a comedian.)

But it ain’t over ‘til it’s over, and anything can happen. Especially if voters get cocky.

Just ask Chicago Bears cornerback Tyrique Stevenson. If you missed it yesterday, the Chicago Bears scored with just :25 left in the game to take the lead against the Commanders. The Commanders were down to their last play. They were on their own 45 with :02 on the clock.

Even as the ball was snapped for Washington’s final, desperate play, a viral video shows Stevenson taunting Washington fans, his back to the line of scrimmage. Watch what happens next.

After being chased around the field by half the Bears’ defensive line for about 13 seconds, rookie sensation Jayden Daniels heaved the ball 65 yards. Stevenson, arriving late to the scene, leapt up and only got enough of a hand on the pigskin to knock it right into the waiting hands of Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown.

Hail Mary, full of grace for the Commanders. TOUCHDOWN!

After the game, Stevenson apologized for his lack of focus.

A lesson for voters: Keep focused, keep up the pressure, keep running hard as long as the clock is ticking. In fact, with this Deep State and Democratic Party, you’ve got to keep pushing even after time has expired.

Don’t be a Tyrique!
