One-Armed High School Baseball Player Gives Inspiration to Many
A high school baseball player in Tennessee has given inspiration to many by continuing to play despite having only one arm.
Luke Terry is a freshman at Cornersville High School and has become an internet sensation for his ability to play catcher and hit after having his right arm amputated, MLB.com reports.
His arm was taken when he was only 19 months old, after he contracted E. coli, according to MLB.com.

Terry is still able to catch pitches in his catcher’s glove, shake the glove off his hand, catch the ball in mid air and then hurl it back to the pitcher. He then puts his glove back on and is ready for the next pitch.

His story mirrors that of New York Yankees pitcher Jim Abbott, who was able to pitch a no-hitter with just one hand. Abbott would rest his glove on his right forearm while he pitched and then rapidly switched the glove to his other hand so he’d be ready to field.
“I don’t even think about it,” Terry told The Tennessean about playing with one arm. “Fans tell me, ‘You’re an inspiration.’ They want me to go a long ways.”
