Two Hospitalized After White Powder Sent to Sen. Cruz’s Office

UPDATE: Thankfully tests on the white powder proved negative for any hazardous substance.

A hazmat team was reportedly sent to Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruzโ€™s campaign office in Houston Tuesday after a suspicious letter containing white powder was opened.

The letter was opened by campaign staff and authorities were immediately called, according to The Weekly Standard. There were multiple fire trucks also reported outside as well as a hazmat truck.

Cruz is up for reelection and faces a close race against his Democratic opponent Rep. Beto Oโ€™Rourke.

It is not yet clear whether the white powder in the envelope was toxic or not at the time of publication.
