The Joe Biden Disaster

By Rachel Alexander Published on June 26, 2019

In just a couple of weeks, Joe Biden went from the Democratic frontrunner for president in 2020 to a floundering candidate mired in scandals.

The media knew about a lot of these before now, but they essentially ignored them. He got good press for years when he was just a senator or a vice-president. Now? When he might become president? The stories come out. It seems the media has an agenda, doesn’t want Biden to be the Democratic nominee.

They’re piling on. And it’s fun to watch.

Now He’s a Racist

Critics accuse Biden of racism. First, for praising work he did with two segregationist senators in the 1970s. He bragged that one of the senators, James Eastland, never called him “boy.” Racists used to call black men “boy” as an insult.

Biden sent letters to Eastland praising him for his joint work stopping school integration through busing. He was “flattered and grateful” for his help. Did Biden agree with the segregationist views of Eastland? He sure seemed to admire Eastland a lot.

Biden’s come a long way from being the one accusing Republicans of racism.

Second, for co-authoring the 1994 crime bill, which disproportionately affected blacks. It created extra punitive penalties for crack cocaine, which was plaguing the black community at the time. The bill didn’t penalize the sale and use of powder cocaine nearly as harshly. It seemed a bill aimed at black males more than fighting crime.

Trump recently tweeted that this bill would cause blacks not to vote for Biden. He also tweeted that the bill addressed “Super Predators.” Hillary Clinton used that phrase in 1996 to refer to the felons the bill would affect. It was widely viewed as directed at blacks. It was what liberals now call a “racist dog whistle.”

Biden used to be the one accusing Republicans of racism. In 2012, during a campaign stop in Danville, Virginia, he said, “They’re going to put y’all back in chains.” He’ll have a much harder time using that line now.

Biden’s Scandal-prone Son

Biden’s scandal-prone son Hunter Biden is all over the news. A woman just filed a petition for paternity and child support, claiming he fathered her child, who was born last August. The younger Biden recently ended a relationship with the widow of his brother, and presumably got the other woman pregnant while he was still with her. Now he’s married a South African woman. This follows a messy divorce in 2017, where his first wife accused him of spending money on drugs and strip clubs.

Then there’s Hunter’s foreign business dealings. He’s been active in Ukraine and China. Hunter sat on the board of the Ukrainian energy company Burisma Holdings while his dad was vice president and Obama was mulling over what action to take due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The elder Biden threatened the Ukrainian president into firing a prosecutor who was looking into the company. He told him the U.S. would not give Ukraine a billion dollars unless authorities fired him. They promptly did.

In December 2013, Biden and his son took a trip to China. Coincidentally, after that Hunter began doing business as a participant in a firm called Bohai Harvest RST. The company formed an investment partnership with other top Chinese state-owned firms. Even though the younger Biden had no background in China, nor any background in equity, he landed the sweet deal.

Piling On

These just add to Biden’s scandals that have been around for awhile. Biden was forced to drop out of the 1988 presidential race after it came out that he had plagiarized both in law school and on the campaign trail. He plagiarized a law review article for a paper in law school.

While campaigning, he lifted portions of a speech by Labour MP Neil Kinnock. It was obvious plagiarism. The speech didn’t even fit his situation. For example, in it he claimed to be the first in his family to graduate from college. But other relatives had graduated before him from college.

In 2007, Biden referred to Barack Obama in a condescending racial way.

In 2007, Biden referred to Barack Obama in a condescending racial way. He said it in the context of evaluating Obama running for president. “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,” Biden said.

Where is Obama?

Speaking of Obama, where is he? Don’t you think he’d be jumping in to declare his former vice president is no racist? Shouldn’t he be standing up for his friend, declaring these accusations stupid? After all, Obama himself called former Klansman Robert Byrd a friend at his funeral. Also, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand was at that funeral too, sitting right behind Obama. And now she’s hitting Biden for his comments too. She’s asked him to apologize for his remarks about the segregationist congressmen.

Why has the media turned against Biden? They don’t think he can beat Trump. Trump calls him “Sleepy Biden” and says he would rather run against him than Hillary, because Hillary’s a tougher candidate. The media is actively participating in the campaign process — and trying to influence the Democratic nomination.
