Sorry, Mr. Clapper. The Common Denominator is Sabotage

By Al Perrotta Published on August 20, 2018

The weeping and gnashing of teeth over the stripping of John Brennan’s clearance continued into the Sunday news shows.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper was on the set of CNN’s State of the Union atop a high horse. Of the president’s talk of stripping further clearances from those involved in the Trump-Russia charade, he said: “The common denominator among all of us that have been speaking up, though, is genuine concern about the jeopardy or threats of our institutions and values.”

No, sir. It’s not about your “speaking up” now. It’s about your “acting up” when in power. You and your co-horts attempted to sabotage first the candidate, then the duly elected president of the United States. Wrapping yourself in the same flag that covers the coffins of those killed in our wars is an abomination.

Let’s Talk Clapper Clearance

Any conversation about Clapper must begin with this: He is the guy who lied under oath about the NSA spying on American citizens. If you or I lied under oath we wouldn’t get a clearance. We’d get a fancy orange jumpsuit.

I used to have a top secret clearance. They’re serious business. Last time it was updated, the guy actually flew out from D.C. to L.A. where I was living, even tracked down an old girlfriend living up the coast somewhere. “You talked to Suzie?! Really?! She doing good?” Had I lied or mischaracterized the relationship, my clearance would have been toast.

And that was just questions about a past romance for a job in broadcasting. Clapper was lying under oath to the U.S. Congress about the sacred American Constitutional right to be free from illegal search and seizures.

The Trump Trap

So what did he do to Trump specifically that shows why this guy shouldn’t get within a time zone of a security clearance? Let’s take just one example involving Clapper and CNN.

Christopher Steele had been peddling his Hillary-funded “Steele Dossier” to the media beginning the summer of 2016 and heading into 2017. However, it wasn’t gaining traction. According to James Comey, CNN was saying they needed a hook before they would run with the dossier.

Enter stage left, James Clapper. At a White House meeting in January 2017, President Obama and his team decide President-elect Trump will not be told the full story of the dossier or the Russia investigation. Moments later, Clapper urges Comey to brief Trump only on the salacious elements of the dossier.

By full story, we mean:

  • Hillary paid for it.
  • Some information came via Russian contacts of Clinton operatives who laundered the information through State Department officials.
  • Even Steele himself said under oath he didn’t know if any of his information in the dossier was true.
  • And that the person heading the Russian investigation begrudgingly told his lover he didn’t think there was anything there. That would be Peter Strzok, who vowed to “stop” Trump and spoke of an “insurance policy” in case he was elected.

Oh, and Obama’s FBI had been surveilling Trump’s campaign and running assets for almost a year at various Trump associates. And Brennan and other Obama officials had been running around Capital Hill insisting Trump had colluded with Russia … with no evidence of it. But I digress.

Comey Rushes to New York

So, heeding Clapper’s advice Comey rushes to New York to brief the President-elect. Someone — Sara Carter reports it was Clapper — leaks news of the secret briefing on the dossier to CNN. (Not surprisingly, Clapper went straight onto CNN’s payroll after Obama’s term ended.)

Suddenly, like a gift from the Swamp Gods, CNN has its news hook. It runs with the dossier story … and runs … and runs … and runs. And the rest is misery.

Is it any wonder Trump would want to cut off a pipeline of classified information to a media outlet hellbent on his destruction?

Clearance for the Conspirators?

We can do this all day long with all but one of the people mentioned by the President. Namely, Clapper, former FBI Director James Comey, Sally Yates, Susan Rice, Andrew McCabe, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Bruce Ohr. (Michael Hayden is the only one whose hands aren’t all over the Obama administration’s effort to take out Trump.)

Brennan, Clapper and their media partners keep trying to tell you that Trump’s stripping clearances to quash “free speech.” Brennan said that — without a hint of irony — during a prime time appearance on MSNBC Friday night.

It isn’t their anti-Trump jawboning outside of government that’s at issue. It’s their abuse of power while inside government, abuses that took the unified form of trying to undercut — dare we say overthrow — the duly elected President of the United States.

Brennan Threatens to Sue, Trump Dares Him To

John Brennan is now threatening to sue President Trump over the yanking of his security clearance. Trump is daring him to try.

A lawsuit means discovery. Discovery leads to revelation.

If that suit happens, the man complaining today about his First Amendment rights being attacked will subsequently be pleading the Fifth.
